Celebrate Bike Month with a free helmet

HONOLULU, HI (May 8, 2023) – May is National Bike Month and Central Pacific Bank (CPB), Bikeshare Hawaii, and Hawaii Bicycling League (HBL) are celebrating by giving away 300 new Shaka by CPB branded helmets to bike riders. The free helmet event is scheduled for Friday, May 12, 2023 from 3:30 – 6:30 p.m. at the Ka Makana Alii Center Court in Kapolei.

“Riding a bike is an environmentally friendly way to get around while also getting exercise and enjoying the outdoors. There are so many reasons to ride a bike and we want people to be safe and wear a helmet while riding,” said Central Pacific Bank President and CEO Arnold Martines. “Mahalo to the Hawaii Bicycling League and Bikeshare Hawaii for their help and support with National Bike Month.”

“Helmets are required by law for riders under the age of 16 and are a simple and effective way to help prevent injuries for users of all ages,” said Bikeshare Hawaii Marketing Director Kelsey Colpitts. “We thank Central Pacific Bank for caring for the community and sponsoring the free helmet event again.”

Standard bicycle and multi-sport helmets will be available in adult and keiki sizes and in a variety of colors on a first come, first serve basis while supplies last. In order to receive a free helmet, simply show up at the event, provide your email address, get properly fitted by a trained HBL volunteer, and then get outside and bike!

While you are encouraged to join, you do not need to be a CPB customer, Biki member, or HBL member to receive a helmet. Due to limited supplies only one helmet will be given per person who is present at the event. For additional information on this community event please click here.
