  LOCAL NEWS

Get ready to speed through checkout

Coming soon is a newly designed CPB Debit Mastercard® to match our new brand look. Even better, the debit card features contactless technology for a faster and safer way to pay. Look for the Contactless Symbol on merchant terminals – a simple tap is all it takes and the card never leaves your hand.

Speed through checkout at grocery stores, pharmacies, coffee shops and more and feel secure when using tap-to-pay technology. Using your new contactless debit card provides an additional layer of security because each transaction is protected with a unique code, helping to protect against fraud and keep your information safe.

Active* CPB Debit cardholders should look for their new card to arrive in the next few months.

*Any active card with three or more transactions between 1/13/2020 - 1/13/2021 or one or more transactions for accounts opened between 7/13/2020 – 1/13/2021.

More help on the way for struggling Americans

On Friday, March 12 President Biden is expected to sign a new $1.9 trillion COVID-19 relief package, the American Rescue Plan, which will provide at least $6 billion in new federal funding to help Hawaii families and local businesses.

Programs will include expanded unemployment benefits, assistance for renters and homeowners, direct payments for individuals and more.

U.S. Senator Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii) highlights how the funds are expected to be disbursed both nationwide and to Hawaii, which is available here.

New rule and new PPP application for Form 1040, Schedule C filers

The SBA issued an interim final rule on March 3 that allows borrowers who file an IRS Form 1040, Schedule C to calculate their maximum loan amount using gross income. View the interim final rule in full text here.

To use the new definition, the applicant must use the new application form, which is being updated in our PPP portal. PPP borrowers will be sent an email to announce when it’s available.

If you submitted the current application form to the platform and it has not yet been approved, you may request to withdraw the application by emailing [email protected].

CPB supports group advocating for gender equality in the classroom and workplace

Four Kalani High School freshmen – CJ, Ella, Maria and Senna – are leading conversations and creating an ambitious action plan to educate 5th and 6th graders statewide about gender inequality and prevention in the classroom and workplace.

In honor of International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month, we are thrilled to support our next generation of young leaders so they can dream big and live without limits.
