#KeepHawaiiCooking powered by CPB Foundation teams up with Chef Hui’s Give & Go Community Meal Program
In Collaboration with ALTRES, Ham Produce and Seafood, and Samkoo Hawaii, LLC
HONOLULU, HI | May 29, 2020 – #KeepHawaiiCooking, powered by the Central Pacific Bank Foundation today joined forces with the Give & Go Community Meal Program. Both initiatives are aligned in providing financial assistance to local restaurants who in turn prepare meals that are donated back into the community. Chef Hui, with community partners like ALTRES, have together played a lead role in addressing food security in Hawaii throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The family needs for keiki and kupuna care is urgent and ongoing as is the call to action to support our local farmers, fisherman, ranchers and restaurants. Jumping in to help lead this effort is part of our DNA as a 50-year-old Hawaii company that is no stranger to leading the way. It is our kuleana as a local company, to not just say the right thing—but to do the right thing.” Siana Austin Hunt, Director of Philanthropy, ALTRES.
Today’s distribution was funded by the Central Pacific Bank Foundation; Samkoo Hawaii, LLC; ALTRES; Aloha Harvest and Chef Hui; and provided more than 800 prepared meals. Each family also received healthy staples like fresh fruits, vegetables, and eggs facilitated by Ham Produce and Seafood in partnership with the USDA Farmers to Families Food Box Program. Participating food service providers included Big City
Diner, Habilitat, Kona Brewing Company, XO, Haili’s Hawaiian Food, Town, and Cakeworks.
“We’re humbled to have been invited by Chef Hui and ALTRES to sponsor this week’s Give & Go Community Meal Program,” said Catherine Ngo, President, Central Pacific Bank. “We commend the special care they’ve extended in working closely with meal distribution partners that are trusted resources in each community served.”
“By working collaboratively, we hope to keep local farmers farming and cooks cooking while providing meals for communities in need,” said Amanda Corby Noguchi, Co-Founder, Chef Hui. “With additional resources, we are able to expand and extend our efforts. This week, with generous support from Central Pacific Bank Foundation and Hawaii Community Foundation, we provided an additional Hawaiian style meal for over 300 families in our network celebrating graduating seniors.”
