Welcome to our weekly customer newsletter.

2020 Hawaii Bankers Association Virtual Food Drive
Each year, CPB teams up with other local banks to collect donations for the Hawaii Foodbank Campaign. An aftershock of COVID-19 is the need for food assistance; the Foodbank demand has jumped 60%, a number that may continue to rise. Hawaii’s families are in need of help now more than ever.
This year, the food drive has moved online; only monetary donations will be accepted with no physical collections in the branches.
If you’re in a position to give, consider contributing to Hawaii Foodbank’s mission to nourish hungry families. No matter the size of your donation, it will be stretched far. The Foodbank’s website lists examples of how your monetary gift may help – for example, $5 buys a 10lb bag of apples, $12.43 feeds a senior citizen lunch for a month, and $16.84 feeds a family dinner for a week.
Now through May 31, make your donation here.
Mahalo Meals are being delivered to Hawaii’s healthcare heroes
Hawaii News Now gave viewers a live look at a Mahalo Meals delivery by Alan Wong’s to Kuakini Medical Center. You can watch the video here.
It’s week three of the Mahalo Meals phase of our #KeepHawaiiCooking campaign. You can still participate by nominating a frontline hero on Instagram @KeepHawaiiCooking. To show our appreciation for keeping our communities safe and healthy, Central Pacific Bank Foundation will award 10 winners each week with 30 meals for the hero’s hardworking department.
As Hawaii businesses cautiously reopen, remember to stay safe when returning to work
Hawaii’s COVID-19 cases remain low and continue to be among the lowest in the U.S. Low-risk businesses are reopening and discussions are continuing to implement a phased restart of our local economy – with social distance and other safety measures in place.
Those being called back to work might ask, “how do I return safely without compromising my health or jeopardizing the health of colleagues, friends and family?”
While the CDC has provided guidance, this Forbes article has simple tips to keep yourself, and those you interact with, safe.
An additional hurdle is Hawaii’s limited childcare support that parents may desperately need in order to resume working. If you, or someone you know, need childcare resources, People Attentive to Children (PATCH), a local nonprofit organization, has compiled a regularly updated list of available providers. (CPB is not associated with this initiative but is sharing this resource to help support our community.)
