CPB COVID-19 Weekly Update 5-01-2020

Welcome to our weekly customer newsletter.

Last July, we announced RISE2020 – CPB’s commitment to transforming our facilities and investing in technology to provide you with even greater access to the financial services, tools and information to pursue your dreams. In reflecting on 2020 and the unprecedented challenges presented these past two months, the significance of RISE2020 has become even more evident.

We are working hard with refreshed purpose to prioritize the components of RISE2020, such as powerful digital banking solutions, that we believe will better serve your changing needs. Please stay connected in the coming months as we rollout these and other RISE2020 enhancements.

Mahalo for being a CPB customer.

Let’s stay connected to keep your accounts protected

An often overlooked way of ensuring your account is secure is to make sure your contact information is current so that we can stay in touch with you. An example of why we might need to contact you is if debit card fraud is suspected due to a transaction outside of your normal spending patterns.

To review your contact information – or to make updates – log in to your account using online or mobile banking. Click Other Services where you’ll find the Change of Address tab.

Remember: If we need to reach out to you, we’ll never ask for personal or financial information through email, text, or unsolicited call.

Supporting our community

The Mahalo Meals phase of our #KeepHawaiiCooking campaign launched last week and since then, we’ve received 500 nominations praising frontline heroes across the islands – and even one or two stories of those with Hawaii ties serving valiantly in other states. Each week, we’ll select 10 frontline heroes and deliver 30 Mahalo Meals to their team to show our appreciation for keeping our communities safe and healthy. Follow @KeepHawaiiCooking on Instagram to learn more and participate!

CPB Foundation also donated $100,000 to Wahiawa General Hospital (WGH). The funds will be used to increase frontline medical response capacity in the face of COVID-19. WGH is a community-owned, non-profit hospital and is a vital resource for the Central Oahu and North Shore community.

The KizunAloha coalition, comprised of more than 20 companies, government agencies and nonprofits, including the CPB Foundation, unveiled a communications campaign to engage Japanese consumers. While the State of Hawaii has currently imposed a 14-day quarantine for all incoming travelers and has asked visitors to postpone their trips to the island until the threat of COVID-19 has been contained, the campaign is designed to encourage economic recovery by continuing to connect and engage with the Japanese market through virtual content.

We are proud to support this effort which will reach approximately 10 million consumers. Watch the Share Aloha video and find more information here.

CPB processing new round of Paycheck Protection Program loans

The Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) was replenished last week Friday with $320 billion. CPB team members are currently processing loans for this new round of funding. The Star-Advertiser reports that in the first round of PPP, Hawaii banks secured more than $2.1 billion which will preserve more than 170,000 jobs statewide.

PPP originated with $349 billion; however, some larger businesses applied for the loan leaving smaller businesses shut out. Additional measures were put in place to ensure that eligible small businesses have access to the funding.

If you have questions about a PPP application submitted through the CPB portal, email [email protected] or call us at 808-544-6865.

Protect your credit during COVID-19

Protecting your credit score is especially important during pandemic times. Maintaining good credit could result in more or better financial options if needed, such as qualifying for a low-interest personal loan or a credit card. If you’ve made arrangements with a creditor to lower payments or defer payments due to an income interruption, it is advised to check your credit report at least 30 days after any agreements have been made to confirm your accounts are being reported correctly.

CPB debit cardholders have free access to credit monitoring and identity theft protection. To activate these benefits, visit Mastercard ID Theft Protection.

Equifax, Experian and TransUnion are also offering free access to credit reports every week through April 2021. Prior to COVID-19, consumers had access to their free report from each bureau once every 12 months.

This article has simple instructions on how to access your free credit reports as well as what to watch for when reviewing your report.
