AlohaTrace - Take 1 minute a day to help fight COVID-19
The CPB Foundation is proud to support AlohaTrace, a community-driven data collection effort to stop the spread of COVID-19 in Hawaii. Your help is needed in answering six anonymous, confidential questions daily – whether you feel fine or unwell. The data will be used to see how/where the virus is moving throughout our community, and track the effectiveness of mitigation strategies.
AlohaTrace is asking for all Hawaii residents to share information focusing on daily health, physical location and movement in the community. The data collected can help our healthcare system with:
- Identifying high risk areas
- Tracking how fast the virus is spreading in communities
- Planning for future outbreaks
AlohaTrace is an updated approach to contact tracing – a method proven to be successful in countries like South Korea – that provides information on who may have been infected, where they’ve been and who else they’ve been in contact with. In the absence of testing, additional data is needed to track and monitor the spread of the disease and the effectiveness of mitigation strategies such as self-quarantine and social distancing.
The CPB Foundation is proud to have made a $50,000 donation toward this initiative. AlohaTrace is a collaborative effort with the University of Hawaii, the National Disaster Preparedness Training Center and the Pacific Urban Resilience Lab.
