Central Pacific Bank Donates $103,119 to Alzheimer's Association, Hugs, Make a Wish Hawaii and Partners in Development

HONOLULU, HI May 4, 2015 – Central Pacific Bank (CPB) employees, family and friends walked to help raise money for four local nonprofits at Kapiolani Park. The sixth annual CPB Walks For You event, held Saturday, May 2, marked the culmination of two months of fundraising efforts by the company’s more than 900 employees.

Four checks totaling $103,119 were presented to the following employee-selected beneficiaries: Alzheimer’s Association Aloha Chapter, HUGS (Help, Understanding & Group Support), Make a Wish Hawaii, and Partners In Development Foundation. The total amount raised includes a 50% match from the Central Pacific Bank Foundation.

“On behalf of the staff and the families served, I'd like to express our sincerest appreciation to CPB, its employees and other supporters of this event.” says Christine Payne, Executive Director of Alzheimer’s Association Aloha Chapter. “The funds raised will continue to allow us to provide counseling, caregiver classes, support groups and other services to families affected by Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia.”

Over 500 participants completed the walk, including CPB canine mascot Alex. Participants also enjoyed breakfast, games, entertainment, and informational booths provided by the nonprofit beneficiaries.

Since Central Pacific Bank launched its annual Walks For You fundraiser, the event has raised nearly $550,000 for Hawaii nonprofits selected by the bank’s employees.
