Diamond Bakery: Celebrating 103 years of crackers, cookies and community

Founded by three Japanese friends with a dream, Diamond Bakery is a company that believes in giving back. And they have a bank that believes in them.

With the holidays around the corner, you may see Diamond Bakery goodies in festive holiday packaging at your favorite stores across Hawaii. As company president Butch Galdeira says, “When customers gift our products, it’s because they trust our brand. And for me and all the employees here, that’s the greatest honor.”

Celebrating the spirit of the holidays and the community that has embraced them, Diamond Bakery is planning to again sponsor the Honolulu City Lights Parade and provide a shopping spree to a family in need through Helping Hands Hawaii.

“The community has given us 103 years of success, and we have tried to give back,” says Butch. “Just 24 hours after the wildfires in Lahaina, we made the single largest cash donation in our company’s history. We also recently donated $14,000 to Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children and featured the story of their Children’s Miracle Network Champion on our soda cracker boxes.”

Diamond Bakery does their banking with Central Pacific Bank, and, according to Butch, “What they’ve done for us is incredible. They’ve introduced us to other local businesses to expand our reach and grow our sales. And they’ve put us at the forefront of their initiatives to expand the Japanese market, to grow our Japanese business. I’ve never seen a bank that takes the innovative approach CPB does.”

Sales have grown a remarkable 30% for Diamond Bakery in just the past two years. “When you grow that much that quick, there’s risk involved and there’s money that is needed to help sustain that type of growth,” says Butch. “Without hesitation, CPB said they believed in us. I know that as we continue to grow as a company, CPB will be right by our side.”
