Cyber Champion: From monitoring threats to implementing protections, Roger Lee leads the information security charge

With the digital landscape constantly evolving, a determined leader is essential to keep pace with its changes. Roger Lee, Central Pacific Bank’s Vice President of Information Security, brings extensive experience and an unwavering commitment to safeguarding our customers and infrastructure from cyber threats.

From Accounting to Cybersecurity

With a background in accounting and finance, Roger began working for a local telecommunications company where he eventually played a crucial role in establishing fraud detection capabilities. This sparked his fascination with technology, safeguarding data, and project management. He moved to internal audit, exposing him to compliance and IT best practices and ultimately towards a career in information security.

A Journey of Continuous Improvement

Continuing his pursuit of knowledge, Roger obtained an MBA and spent a year studying abroad, broadening his perspective. Upon returning to Hawaii and joining a large financial institution, he spent eight years establishing and enhancing security programs and driving technological advancements.

He joined CPB in the summer of 2022. It was there that Roger's expertise extended beyond standard cybersecurity measures to ensure CPB’s diligence against new threats through strategic risk management and compliance. His skills include consulting, process improvement, program development, incident management, and risk mitigation.

"What motivates me is the mindset of continuous improvement," Roger explains, reflecting on his approach to information security. "In the realm of cybersecurity, a demand for constant enhancement exists, and it’s crucial to invest in efforts that bolster resiliency and efficacy.”

Outside of his professional life, Roger enjoys exploring new places and cultures. He recently traveled to Japan with his family.

  • Constant Vigilance: Strengthen passwords and eliminate default passwords across your home network. Stay informed and receptive to an ever-changing cybercrime landscape.
